At least I finished The Golden Compass, the first book in the His Dark Materials trilogy--I think that took me around six months, what with losing it, finding it, loaning it out to someone else, losing

I see the temp-to-perm thing as honest. When people are hired at Antioch there's a 90 day evaluation period - so even though it's not specifically temp-to-perm, essentially it is. And really, all jobs involve an evaluation period, unspoken or not.
