("Least Complicated", Indigo Girls)
I am at =skip 360 or something. It is going to take me more than a week to catch up on my week of no reading. At least I finished The Golden Compass, the first book in the His Dark Materials trilogy--I think that took me around six months, what with losing it, finding it, loaning it out to someone else, losing it again and finally finding it again. I went to the library tonight and got the second book, which should (this is the hope) force me to finish it in at least a month. I don't know why things were so slow going with that book.
And I better get in plenty of reading in the next several days, because I might have a job starting Monday. Well, I definitely have a temp job starting Monday; whether it turns into a permanent position is up to me and my (potential) future employer. I didn't think I wanted to go back to work just yet, but I really liked both people I interviewed with on Monday, really liked the company and (quite importantly) really liked the salary. So I agreed to temp for at least a week and see how it goes.
I've never done the temp-to-perm, test period thing before, and I feel a little bothered by it (but not much). It's one thing to have an evaluation period (which I've also never had), I suppose--another entirely to start out on this "we'll see" level. However, like I said--I'm not sure that I want to go back to work, either, so it gives me a chance to evaluate the position without a huge commitment, too.
