Hi, i'm a canadian (from vancouver) vegan who is here in auclkland for the year. if you want to add me as a friend, i have some auckland/new zealand stuff on my LJ page.
as for some good veg restaurants, there are 2 downtown: raw power and vegetarian cafe. there are a lot of bookstores on queen st. downtown...a movie theatre. I think wellington is better as far as culture goes and cultural institutions, but the art gallery and the museum here are decent. let me know if you have any other more specific questions. where will you be staying?
Ahh, that is awesome-- love meeting fellow Canadians all over the world.
Thanks so much for all the tips and I will definitely add you as a friend and keep in touch :)-- I am staying at a little hotel called... Aspen House Hotel
I hope you are having an amazing time in Auckland and thanks again!
Im in Auckland currently too. I noticed a few vegetarian places along "k" Road when I was walking today. K Road (everyone calls it that but the real name is Karangahape Road) has some cool shops and bars and stuff. http://www.kroad.co.nz/kroad/streetscroll/default.asp
Im sure you will find stacks of stuff to do in Melbourne!
