National Poetry Month Challenge - Day 4

Jumping over candlesticks,

he spreads his legs wide,

claps his hands above his head,

lands safely on the other side.

All trades he practices,

he butchers, bakes, and even makes

the candlestick before he jumps,

and he scatters hoary flakes.

Clearly clever, he stows away

to sail the seven seas,

and while aboard he eats no fat

with his dried beans and peas.

Yeah, there's no way you want Gaiman's Jacks in the neighborhood. Aren't they something out of every child's nightmares?

Dude - it took me until the 4th stanza to fully "get" what you were doing, and when I did, I was thrilled beyond belief. Nice work!

I might have added, I spent my four years of high school with a classmate whose name was, really and truly, Jack Frost. His sister's name was Gail. Both of them were towheads, with the most amazingly pale blond hair.
