Mac-n-Cheese Leaves

Yesterday I drove BD (booksareadrug ) back to school after her mid-semester break. Central New York State has a different enough climate from Northern New England so that we saw some trees we couldn't quite identify. Their foliage was, in BD's words, "the color of the Macaroni and Cheese Crayola crayon." It's the best description I can think of for the orange-y ( Read more... )

Hi there. I love the mac and cheese descriptor! How perfect. I crossed the lake today on the Grand Isle Ferry and was in awe of the colors that seemed to carpet the mountains by the sandbar. Fall, a time for comfort food by the fire and mac and cheese leaves.

The colors by the lake are still lovely. I was so surprised by the difference between Lake Champlain and the Albany-Binghamton corridor, which is farther south, but had a mixture of bare branches, brown oaks and mac and cheese.
