Clearing Decks

With StT off to my trusted beta readers and my summat more or less finished, I've had time to do something I've wanted to get to for ages: get rid of my ancient desk-top computer and make more space.

The last time I showed you my office, back in October, it looked like this:

I do like that last one. It's so true of writing, at least in my experience. Even the projects that seem to have been left behind have a way of making their presence felt.

Thanks--you've inspired me. When BD is eventually out of the house, I plan to make an art/play corner in part of what is now her room.

I like to remind myself to have fun -- if it's not fun (even when it's work), then I need to find another way ;)

I tell myself to keep writing, no matter what, and always ask myself (jbknowles taught me this) "Is it true yet?"

Oh I like that last! It's something I've felt before, but never had quite the right words for. I'm going to add it to my list.

I have been writing a bit by putting on my list "MMM & BBB-one word." If I tell myself I only have to write one word, I actually do it. Of course it is a picture book starring the bugs in this icon so it won't take a lot of words. I need to reread my notes from a SCBWI picture book workshop by Tami Sauer. She was dyn-o-mite!

I'll have to file Tami's name away for future reference. I wish I thought in picture book terms, because I love them. And you're so right, one word is a doable daily goal.
