I just got around to seeing last Friday's BSG, "The Ties That Bind." Well, that was grim, wasn't it? I didn't hate this episode, though mostly because I was happy to see Cally get airlocked. God was she annoying.

I also really liked the Cylon infighting bits.

On the one hand, Cally has one of the most human and realistic reactions to the whole situation -- she wanted to be a dentist, for Pete's sake. Her tour was over, she was about to go home, and then the world ended. Of course she's grumpy about it. She had a great spotlight story on Kobol, and finally seemed to get on the team, but they found New Caprica, she decided she was done. No more fighting, no more career military, time to settle down and raise a family. That was a bad call, but I find it hard to fault her for that. She's been phenomenally annoying since then, I agree, but it seems like she just kept getting dealt a bad hand. I didn't particularly want to see a scene with her in it, but I didn't want her to get spaced, either.

Did... did you just make an Emperor's New Groove reference?

I did, yes. It seemed an appropriate antidote to the darkness of the episode I'd just watched.
