I just got around to seeing last Friday's BSG, "The Ties That Bind." Well, that was grim, wasn't it? I hate to say this, but Elora probably won't...I think we're running out of likable characters on this show. Kara's being self-destructive again, and Sam's helping. Lee's out in subplot-land, and he's no fun without Kara to interact with. Adama, Athena, and Gaeta were barely in this episode, but they were kind of grumpy too. I don't want to say this, not just three episodes in, but I'm starting to get a "Buffy Season 7" vibe. There's no question of not watching, not after getting this far, and one assumes that there'll be a happy ending, or at least a bittersweet one, but the amount of hell the characters go through to get there may just rob the ending of any satisfaction. It's entirely possible that my new one-per-week viewing schedule is contributing to this feeling. When I could watch four in close proximity, there were usually at least some up notes to prevent it from being a total slog of misery and nihilism.
