Thought I'd post some of the photos of the newest acquisitions for my garden. It's not the biggest yard in the world but I'm getting smarter on how to use my small space. In preparation of shelving getting installed next weekend, I bought a bunch of plants this weekend. It was about 75 each day so perfect weather for gardening this weekend. I'll ( Read more... )

Me too! So much! The dirt out here sucks balls. I went to a gardening class and the lady said that she just uses raised beds for all her veggies cause otherwise, they simply don't grow.

I'll have to upload photos of the veggies when I get them in :D

We planted beans and kale recently, but they're not growing. You must have a greener thumb than me.

Are your temps staying over 40 degrees? I've been going to gardening classes and they all said that plants need at least 40 degrees to really do well. Here, the night temps stay over 40 unless we have a cold snap. If it's under 40 degrees, the ground is too cold for the plants to want to set better roots. You also should cover the plants if it's under 40.

I failed at zucchini last year, which I hear is rather impossible to do but I killed those plants deader than dead, didn't even get a single zucchini to harvest. I did better at tomatoes. This year, I'm using earthboxes for most of my veggies so hopefully my plants do much better. I'm really branching out from my tiny garden last year. I didn't get a single pepper off my green pepper plant and my jalapeno barely did anything.

Did you know that beans are part of a three sisters legend? here. It's fascinating to read about. Beans will, eventually, "fix" your soil so you can grow something else in it later ( ... )
