Oh holy moly. That's crazy with how many people applied. We've received another 15 applications today but I took a halfday so IDK if more came through or not.

The economy can recover any time now, plzkthx.

The economy is that bad. People are reaching the point of their unemployment benefits running out, so they are applying for part time and low paying just to have a paycheck coming in. A friend of mine is a restaurant assistant manager, he will get 50-100 applications for a dishwasher position. Many of them from people with college degrees and coming from high paying jobs that no longer exist.

I just interviewed for a position at Office Max in the in print center. Turns out it was only part time and I need full time if I'm going to lose my Unemployment by taking the job. If my UI was ready to run out, I would have taken it. Yes, the economy sucks royally right now.

It's just crazy how bad it's really gotten. And now to hear that unemployment is only going to get worse? Srsly? Dude, that sucks so hardcore. I'm looking for a new job but I'm not seeing anything except employers feeling like they can take advantage of needy people. There are three positions open around here right now that are equivelent to what I have and each pay less than 12 bucks an hour. Um, wow, that's WAY too low. I make more than that at Fry's stocking groceries let alone actually doing the accounting.

We just had an opening for an administrative assistant, a position that turns over about once a year. Normally, we have about 40 resumes. This time, there were around 150, from all sorts of work backgrounds.

Sounds like that resume was on the Do Not Rehire status when you called.

Yeah, my accounting assistants keep getting stolen by other departments or I fire them. We've had 6 people in the 5.5 years I've been here. One of them is now my full-time bookkeeper, though, so I can't really complain about her :D.

Oh definitely. They flat out said that there would be no way they'd even consider hiring this person back. They were adamant about it.

I took half of today and all of tomorrow off so I'm already feeling "better" :D. But seriously, this should be over by Thursday, I hope, cause things really get crazy then.

We've got a lot of really great applicants though there's also the woman that's studied parapsychology and wonders about the ghosts of teh animals we've killed and how they're haunting the shelter.
