Oh Snap!

We just did the Portland Auto Show private preview, we get free tix to it. Kevin REALLY liked the new BMW 1 series and the X6. We sat in everything, Smart, Maserati, BMW, and Mercedes. Unbelievable! We want to buy an X5 but we don't want the crappy I-Drive. So we may just stay with our Envoy and Highlander for now, but I would assume one of those will be going for the 135 convertible when it comes out for 2009 release. Kevin won't buy a German car that is put together in South Carolina or Alabama for the Mercedes M series. Did you see the dash on the Mercury Mariner/Ford Edge? ICK! Although the Ford Super Chief Truck was awesome!

They had a SLK280 for $42,000 at our show, plus they had the SLK55 AMG model as well. Looks like they still built these in Bremen.

Be glad you saved your money, Tony. 9 bucks a head to get in (Friday night coupons from Schnucks...everyone was sharing them with everyone else, i thought that was pretty cool) plus another 9 for parking...and we only stayed <90min. Pretty pricey. But i DO love my mobile tanning machines and the ol' babyJeep isn't going to last too much longer. The windshield frame is even rusted through. But as long as i'm on the road, i can save my pennies.

Well, your other choice may have been to attend the Seattle Boat Show, about as much fun, I'm sure. :)

The new Mini may not look like anything new, but they made lots of improvements. Higher door sills? Yep, BMW did not have a choice. UK had new requirements where the bonnets needed to be higher for pedestrian safety and that had a ripple effect on the whole car body from head to tail. Overall, people say it has a little more oomph, shifts better and has a little more zing in it's driving.

As for the 650i? Ohhh, sweet car, but way out of my price range. That car was designed to be a convertible right from the beginning.

As for me, I still like a hard roof over my head. :)

The Mini Convertibles are still based on the old models, the new style will kick in next year. The cabrios are always a year behind. i sat in the new hardtop and Clubman and the door sill is quite a bit higher. i know about the height requirements...it's all through the EU. But that doesn't mean i have to like them...damn pedestrians!! LOL!!

Glad you & Kiwi had a great time although your thoughts of the car show was a disappointing. Cool looking cars unfortunately we can't afford them. Oh well, as usual I love the pics. Take care & Big Bear Hugs.
