My trainer's dogs had their puppies, and I got to go to a puppy party today! We did some basic handling and socialization, and then "tortured" a few with Christmas-themed poses for pictures. They were so cute and squishy!

The Week in Review

Other than a serious backslide in the potty department, things are great. We had one day this week with five pees in the house! What happened?  Chalk it up to inattention and too much water-drinking, I guess.  Things were better the rest of the week.

The Week in Review

I'm behind on posting this, so no comments. Except, no potty accidents for this entire week!  Of course, I blew that by being inattentive today -- not once, but twice! At least it's just pee.  And, in both cases, he was right by the door -- he was trying to go out!

The Week in Review

Another good week.  Gromit was able to work for an entire 1st-night demo at Puppy K. He is smart and lovely in all respects :).  He's doing better on the mouthing, especially towards the end of the week.  He only gets bad (hard biting) when he is over-tired -- so I need to watch that.

It was a good week.  Gromit continues to learn. I would say our biggest challenge right now is a basic one: teaching him that humans are not for mouthing.  My junior handlers had more success this week -- not a surprise, since Gromit is now officially operant :).

Thanks to the printed schedule on the basement door,  I was able to remember what I was supposed to be working on, and to do a little work in each area every day (for the most part).

Socialization is going well.  Gromit is intimadated by big, exuberant dogs, and when he's tired he wants nothing to do with anyone. He and Kizzy are ( Read more... )

Our first full week!  It was harder to meet other dogs than I expected, but Gromit is shy of big exuberant dogs still, so maybe it's for the best. Our first night at PuppyK was a bit of a mess, because he was overtired and stressed, but I'm confidant next week will go more smoothly.
