It's the very nature of a relationship, to end.

I wanted to take a minute to revisit a post I made two years ago...  Mostly because it seems an appropriate reminder for what some friends going through:

“Have you ever been in love? Horrible isn't it? It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up. You build up ( Read more... )

friends, rambling, love

I was actually just talking about this with Nbowa yesterday. The end can be so painful that people lose focus on the many, many positive memories that were shared. But eventually the pain will fade and that's what you will be left with. I think it's pretty special to share a period of your life with someone. There will forever be experiences that only the two of you have shared.

Exactly! It's easy to get so focused in the now, that you allow everything that came before, to be overshadowed.

If only relationships worked in reverse... To start with a fight, simmer down to bickering, be highlighted with romance, to blossom into newfound love and to end with a spark... A connection so profound to have made it all worth it... The painful "end" but a long-forgotten memory...

I can't remember where I heard it from, but there's a saying I like to live by:

"As soon as you're born, you start dieing. So you might as well have a good time." Good post dude :3

I don't know about the saying, but it's a lyric out of 'sheep go to heaven, goats go to hell' by Cake.

There is a wonderful quote that says: A happy life is just a string of happy moments. But most people don't allow the happy moment, because they're so busy trying to get a happy life. ~Abraham-Hicks ( ... )

It does not always have to end but in some cases it does. Depending on the how it ends depends on the level of pain involved and sometimes the pain never goes away regardless of the love.

I hope you do not mind the comment I found the entry to be very moving.

I don't mind the comment at all... However, in the context of my post, in what case could it not end?

Love can live on even if just in our hearts. Since we do not know what is beyond, there is a chance love does in fact last an eternity. Where I do not believe in god, I do believe there is more and if you can love someone in flesh and blood I see no reason why you can not love someone in spirit even if both are not yet in spirit.

Gotcha... In matters of faith then, I cannot say. My assumption is that in the process of dying, we can only do that alone. As for what lay on the other side, I don't know. But I would wager that no love could survive eternity.
