Friday - The weekly Friday Night Magic tournament at the store went well, albeit a small turnout.  However, considering the upcoming release tournament this weekend, I think we'll be fine...  I hope.

Saturday - Spent the morning making some headway with sorting mail and paying bills...  It's not that I don't have the money...  I just don't have ( Read more... )

friends, leather, bars, movie, bbq, cocktails

However, as mind-blowingly awesome as everyone feels Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker was, and don't get me wrong, it was a VERY well written and VERY well acted interpretation of the Joker... When I see the Joker, in my head... I see Detective Comics #826 as written by Paul Dini and drawn by Don Kramer & Wayne Faucher. In my head... That one comic, WAS Joker, to me at least. The Joker in this movie, while excellent in it's own right... wasn't "the best", but it was amazing.

Well said. Glad you had fun this weekend ^_^

hahaha... I actually hate taking pictures inside leather bars because they have to be carefully posed so that there's nobody in the background who doesn't want to be in the background... And then the flash is, well... It's hard to realize how dark it is in those places, until you see a flash go off!

Just a word of advice, might want to put a Spoiler alert warning on top of that..

But a few things On the second watching I realized, Batman didn't chose Harvey, the Joker did. He gave Batman the addresses backwards.

Secondly, You mentioned the movie is about morality, and i think the boat scene is a perfect example of this. One the one hand the Criminals, didn't budge. They didn't try to force their way to the remote till nearly the end, when one of them threw it out the window. Meanwhile the boat full of "civilized" people, all they could talk about was blowing up the other boat.

My feeling about the Joker stems from the fact that, Heath Ledger's joker is the first o actually scare me. The first to feel like a threat, like if he were real, i'd fear for my life. Is he the most accurate? I don't know. We all know that the character can change depending on the writer, in both comic book, and movie/cartoon worlds. I would call Ledger's the "best" because, as I said before, he was the on that immersed me into his world the most.

Ahhh... HAH!!!

I TOLD Fen that the Joker gave him the addresses reversed!!!

As for the boats... I was actually a little sad to see that nobody got blown up because... Well... I've GOT to know who had which transmitter?!? Sure, the joker SAID that they each had the other's detonators, but it's the Joker... And the ultimate punch-line, in that case... would have been for a boat of people to blow themselves up, in an effort to save themselves!

I liked the little touches that Heath added to the character such as the tiresome, almost bored demeanor that he conducted himself with and the little lip-licking every once in a while. As I thought about why he did this, it became obvious that if you slash across your cheeks like the Joker, you can kiss those salivary glands goodbye to be replaced with scar tissue. It was just one of those small, but meaningful things that really got to me. :)
