A poem to stave off the "A" word! And quite a lot of photos from London

Ode to Late Summer

October’s clock strikes but a song!
I will not call you “Autumn”
for your season is not of change but continuation:
plentiful the scene - serenity of sky and
full green leaf without the inclination to fall.

What if spiders have snared the hedgerows
and reddened apples lisp with wasps?
While you your warming pardon shine,

It's like the poem is making me forget that winter is coming.

NIce pictures. I especially like the glimpse of St Pauls and the spiralling staircase.

London has some lovely architecture though it is not all easy to see (e.g. because of other buildings). The spiral staircase is very nice and shows off one of the lightest basements that I know; usually underground areas are dark, but not this one.

Wonderful pictures - thank you!

I've never seen the Inner Temple gardens before - how very peaceful!

What if spiders have snared the hedgerows...

Lovely! May it serve to keep the wind in the south a little longer.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the snaps (taken with the Canon Ixus which lives in the rucksack).

The Inner Temple gardens are surprisingly well planted; you would know that you are not looking at a park, for example. There has been a garden (well, orchard in mediaeval times) on this site for centuries and, before the layout of the Victoria embankment, there was direct access from it to the Thames. The gardens (about 3 acres) are open to the public most lunchtimes during the week.

Ah, yes; I'm still struggling to keep the "A" word at bay but - having looked at the forecast for the rest of the week - see that the struggle is going to be short one! I don't think that poetry is going to save us...

Hello! Indeed - if a picture is worth 1000 words it seems more generous to give pictures where possible. Glad you enjoyed them.
