Jolly Jubilee pics!

I'm not one to waste a public holiday so happily joined in the party mood with friends.  I made a pudding with a wonky crown decoration of ginger biscuit crumbs and a red, white and blue jelly bean border (but the blue colouring was very aggressive and quickly attacked the poor pink pudding!):

I wish I could have been there. I love all of this stuff, it's stupid but it really makes me proud to be British!

Instead, I watched a live stream of the parade and fly past thanks to the BBC website. Perfect quality!

Thanks for sharing your photos. Glad you had a great time.

Yes, I wish you could have been here too. We don't get that colourful so often, eh? Still, I'm glad you caught some clips on the net: I loved the fly-past - a Lancaster, a Hurricane and FOUR Spitfires still flying 70 years on. It was wet and cold and fun - very English!

It was so much fun to watch the celebrations on tv, we were clapping along and singing 'God Save The Queen' I also thought it was very nice that people were cheering for Prince Phillip. By the way, those quiz cards you sent are difficult for spouse to answer (he gets most of them) so thanks for sending them along. We plan to make some crown shaped biscuits this weekend. :D

The TV clips on the net were certainly fun - but I had so many questions (like what was the biggest ship in the river parade?) and realized that I wasn't good at distinguishing the uniforms of the different Guards regiments. I don't think that I'd have been much help to spouse in that quiz!

Oh - I hope that the crown cookies turn out well. I could have done with one of those cutters to shape my crumb crown a little better.

Thanks for taking a look here!

Ah good - they didn't keep you in the zoo then :=P

Glad you visited my little picture show. Actually it doesn't seem much to look at after all the fireworks and river boats and colour in London but we had a happy time. Hope you did too.

Every Tescos in Hampshire it seems had sold completely out of Pimms, so we had none ;~;
Probs my fault for drinking it all in the first place P:

Seems like you have a jolly good time! I'm jelly D':

In a side note, where the hell did you get those place mats?! My dad would love them!
Actually, this is a second set of awesome place mats I know you have. Share how many others you have!

Hello! Good to see you. Yes, we had lots of capers and fun - no point not going the whole hog so we dressed up with Union Jack wigs and all sorts!

Bah. No Pimms? That's a shame. I'd have sent you a bottle with my best Jubilee compliments if I'd known ;=)

Ah, yes - I'd forgotten your mat fetish! These lovely old aeroplane mats are new; I picked 'em up on my travels to the Far East (Suffolk/Norfolk ha ha) last month. They came from here:

I THINK you can buy them online but the "shop" link on the page above doesn't work. I've found another link here:
http://www.shuttleworthretail.co.uk/index.php
but it seems a bit limited. Anyway, that's where I bought them.

The Shuttleworth museum is a great place - it's on Old Warden airfield which is next to Cardington where they still have two weird and massive hangars built for airships:

I love the way you decorated everything! So thematic. The pudding looks cute and fun. All the food and drink looks fresh and colourful.

Looks like your holiday feast was a success!

Yes, I had a happy time, thank you. THe Jubilee holiday seemed very good-natured and relaxed, despite the rather un-celebratory weather. The summer fruit (e.g. strawberries) is ready now so the farmers' markets yield lots of good things - plenty of colourful and crisp fruit and veg. It's not too hard to make a nice feast out of such things!

Speaking of colourful things, I received a very green and eyecatching Shuttleworth card in the post. I'm really intrigued by the way the height and angle of the photo makes the buildings and trees below look exactly like little model replicas! It's a very nice image of the plane in flight, too. Actually, I receieved it a week ago, but my laptop has been with my brother for repair the past week. Belated thanks for the interesting card!

What a useful brother you have!

I'm pleased that you like the aeroplane card. I still like that Lancaster bomber you sent me a while back - it's on permanent display on the dresser in the breakfast room.

I bought some place mats at the Shuttleworth collection museum - if you look at the champagne bottle photo above you can see them fairly clearly. I bought no end of stuff there, in fact - mugs, a waterproof, T-shirt, wrapping paper - all sorts.
