Improving performance on an Xbox 360?

Is there any way to improve the performance of an Xbox 360 without getting a new Xbox? Or am I just out of luck? I bought a refurbished one recently through Gamestop, and it generally works just fine. However there is one game that gives me problems, and it's not the disc as I've tried two copies of the game. It's been a little over a month and I'm pretty sure I remember the standard warranty only being good for a month. I meant to get an extended if it was offered, but was stupid and forgot to look for the option when I ordered the system.

Have you tried clearing your cache?

Haven't tried that yet. I saw it mentioned somewhere before but couldn't figure out how to do it. I'll try it next time I start up the 360.

If all else fails...try calling Microsoft. Our warranty was way past expired and they still sent us a factory-refurbished unit when it red ringed. :)
