RP'ing in WoW... how to start?

I am interesting in RP'ing in WoW (I think) but I have no idea how to start/what to do. I have been told to just make up a story and act it out... but what does that involve ( Read more... )

That's basically it. The next step is to find other people to role play with, and possibly if you have friends to join in, have a collaborative story to make it more...interesting, I guess.

Just an FYI, I was on an RP server for a while, and there was some role play going on, but for the most part a lot of people were there just to play the game. Others literally sit in city taverns to role play, never playing through any game content. I personally enjoyed role playing through game content, but I didn't find many others that wanted to do the same.

You find other people to interact with and behave as if you really are the character.

Consider joining a roleplay guild. To do this, you can ask around on the appropriate channels... or Trade. Someone will usually answer you there.

The best thing to do is check your server's forum for information on websites and custom channels that cater to RPers. On Horde and Alliance side of many RPer servers, they will have a chat channel for you to /join so you can talk Out of Character (OOC) with other RPers, as a way of getting to know them, finding out where events are, and fishing for spur-of-the-moment RP or guilds. Some even have wikis or other websites dedicated to the RPers of that particular server. Check the official WoW forum for that server first, or ask aloud in the General chat. Someone will contact you about it ( ... )

Hey you!! :D You know, I was actually thinking about combining a Sims/WoW story... it would be difficult as heck to take the pictures for, and the sims would have to look a LOT like the WoW characters (which may prove difficult) but... idk, this picture I took...

It's easier than you think. If you check some websites like modthesims2.com (which has a section for Sims 3 if you play that), people have made WoW skins for characters in both games.

heh. i saw that picture in your lj, some time ago. ^^ Something about your sim and your WoW character looking eerily alike. Anyway, yeah i know exactly what you mean, and that my friend is what fanfiction is made of. If you don't find a co-author or a rp-partner, i think you should still write whatever comes to mind. There is an audience for anything if you want it. ^^
