I worked for a very teeny-tiny nonprofit, and the knee replacement surgeries were nearly constant, and the poor diabetic had to have his foot removed and all sorts of stuff. So it was really adding up, and the insurance company was being really REALLY evil.
Maybe I shouldn't assume, but both of the guys who were clearly costing the most in health care were gone within a year of each other.
ok, well very cold-blooded and selfishly I'm gonna say whew, that's not quite as bad as I thought. Horrible, but I thought you meant they were your co-workers at a large corp. If that were the case, then there would be no refuge left. Not that a large corp is exactly a refuge. More of an institution, with all that that implies.

And, btw, the exact thing happened to two of my coworkers: one knee replacement issues, the other diabetes.
I work for a huge multinational corporation; I think I'm damn glad of it, today.
