Another legend bites the dust, as Macleans reports that these days, the Mounties don't always get their man - and worse yet, can't be arsed to even try in a lot of cases because they're so short-staffed due to the demands of contract policing. Via Newsbeat One through Instapundit.

Noooo! My beloved mounties! What have you come to? I blame all of this on the cancellation of Due South. That was some good honest promotional mountie material.

Indeed. That was a fine, fine show...and the opening song has a certain melacholy to it now, after reading the Macleans story.
