Is that on the federal level or the provincial level, because you can - if I remember correctly - emigrate to Canada either way.

English only? I'd imagine that they'd be looking for high-skilled French speakers as well. (But that might depend on the provincial requirements. I mean, Quebec wouldn't English only.)

Why, I don't know. AAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I wasn't aware that Canada had separate immigration laws for the provinces.

I'd like to see English required as a condition of citizenship. It used to be that way for most of our history, and damned if I understand why we got rid of that.

Canada has a language requirement--most people don't realize that. After my citizenship test, all of us came up to the proctor and were asked, "When were you born? Qu'est que-ce votre date de naissance?" One woman stood there mute, not understanding the question and the next thing she was told was, "Get your coat". She was the only one not sworn in that day.

Thank you for clearing that up. I didn't realize it was a go/no-go deal; I thought it was just another factor in the points system they use to decide who gets to be a Canadian, who gets to be a landed immigrant, and who needs to GTFO.
