Ok, so RTD has pissed off some fans with Season Three CoE on Torchwood. With Season Three Torchwood came of age, but might've left some fans behind from the rather silly programme it was in season One and Two. Ok, not so say there were not plot holes you could hold an M6 traffic jam in, but did have some undercurrents you had to think about, and

I don't think they should write for fans either, as that is very limiting, and stiffles creativity, just don't think he should talk about another fandom at all!

And oh yeah, the go read poetry, and watch Supernatural...oh and the people concerned about the appearance of eliminating the gay couple and leaving the straight one blissfully happy being told to 'grow up'...really the man is a total ass.

The New York Times review of CoE said he kills main characters because essentially he isn't good enough to get the level of drama he wants any other way. They're right.
And no one watches TW for high drama...overall very few people watch Sci-Fi in general for high drama...
I am seeing though that the 'Save Ianto' campaigns are making the news websites now...BBC Wales (I think it was). As much as he wants to say it's just a few upset people, if the news sites are reporting on it, it's not a few people...and he may end up with less choice than he thinks...he doesn't want to write for the fans...but the BBC may not feel the same since the fans are where the money is.

I do think it he has got too big for his boots.
To be honest, I liked CoE, I thought it raised some interesting questions. The death of Ianto was totally unnessacary for any added drama, and a waste.
Really think RTD needs to reconsider the cheap drama of killing someone off.

To be honest, I will. I thought series 3 was the best of the lot.
(and I'm watching Supernatural right now ;^> S2s Tall Tales)

Then maybe he thinks that as long as people are talking, it is good

I thought RTD was moving to the US anyway and not writing for TW anymore? I think, despite fandom, a lot of non-fandom people will still watch. To be honest, a lot of people I know watched COA despite finding the last seasons a bit meh. They aren't involved in fandom but all of them loved COA, they thought it was dark and intense althought the couln't see TW continuing as a series from there.
I must admit I found the last series a bit off and on but I was really looking forward to COA. Killing off the other guys was bad enough but it seems like everyone happy gets biteen, what's next Gwen's baby? From what I've heard only Gwen is left over in TW now and not even Jack might be there so I doubt I'll watch TW season 3. I liked the Jack/Ianto pairing a lot, always thought Ianto would end up hurt by the relationship but i'm gutted he ended up dead.

To a certain extent, CoE was some of the best TV this year, the real bummer is his attitude. He is a bit high handed. I doubt it would go over well in America, especially with an outsider trying to appeal to an American audience.
