Sensitivity to light and CRTs

It can be quite annoying when one's sensitivity to light exceeds the light output from one's monitor. Sensitivity to light being defined as the amount of light that causes one's head to ache/throb and either not get better or get worse. Bleh ( Read more... )

Hi Wolfie,

Have you considered one of those plastic shields you can get for your monitor? I think the most common ones are for privacy, but you can also get colored ones. I know I've heard of people using colored transparent sheets to help improve their reading, but I don't recall what it's called.

It's not really a glare issue althought that can be a problem. It's just that my eyes gather more light than most and sometimes it can be overwhelming.

I've found using electromagnetic-shielded monitors has helped the issue tremendously at work.

Of course, I got these monitors (Sony 400PS) by raiding the third floor the week after New Year's, not through any proper channels or anything. :-)

If they let you bring in hardware from home, Fry's has 19" LCDs for $209 these days.
