DDR Max, Coordination, and Me

After picking up the PS/2 (that's Sony, not IBM) today, I decided that it would probably be best to pick up a cheaper soft pad that might die quickly rather than an expensive hard pad that would last longer. I have to make sure that I'll keep doing it first. I had to hit a few places but I finally found a place that had DDR Max, used. I bought a ( Read more... )

I SO much wish one of those things! They just sound soooo fun and cool!

One day I will get one for sure, until then, just keep me updated on how it goes, and all the fun you're having will you! :)

For me, it takes quite some practice to get the hang of each song - but it gets a lot easier, the more often I do it.

One of my big beefs with DDR for the XBox is that there seems to be no attempts at teaching it. You're basically just thrown into the music, which makes it hard to catch on.

Once you get used to it, it's not so bad. The learning curve can be steep though. Once you get good, make use of the practice modes to get the hang of each song (play the song on speed 3 or 4, with the metronome and handclaps in addition to the music, then speed it up and then take out the aides).

I'm quite uncoordinated. DDR, for me, is a process of learning individual songs, not necessarily of getting better at moving my feet quickly. Every now and then that little brain-click-thingy (someone has told me it's about transferring processing from the cerebrum to the medulla, hellifiknow) happens and I'm actually good at just following the arrows. This happens, if ever, on the Nonstop or Endless (forget name, haven't played since I broke the toe) mode... which gets unlocked after you've danced a certain number of songs.
