Interviews

Well I had the interview for the team leader role on Friday. Was interesting to say the least - one of those things you knew you were going to get asked some rather probing questions but as to what they entailed.... Man I was unprepared and some of the questions were just down right evil. As for the competency questions they were no problems it was ( Read more... )

Questions like that are pretty stupid, IMO... mostly because they're meaningless. Empower the team to do what? Furthermore, is empowering the team always a good thing, anyway, or shouldn't a team leader lead and a manager manage? And doesn't the whole thing depend on the task at hand and - more importantly - the team, anyway? :P

Ah well - I've got a feeling I wouldn't have done well on that interview, myself, but I'll keep my claws crossed for you. ^^

Exactly! I mean in what way do they mean empower its vague. empower them to go make the coffee's on a morning? Sure here is a spoon here is a kettle now hop to it boy. ^^

Yeah. ^^ Or maybe it'd work like in that Dilbert strip where the pointy-haired boss decices to empower everyone, which leads to the predictable result (I don't recall the exact wording, but the dialogue went something like this: 'Wally: "Dilbert, you're fired!" - Dilbert: "No, *you're* fired!" - Alice: "I'll never work hard again!"')
