I wake up at 6am, work from 7:30 to 12:30 and go to Fair from there... for no money.

I won't begrudge anyone the decision to just visit Dickens, instead of working, but it is possible to mitigate the costs, especially if your schedule is flexible enough to *work* Dickens.

But, hey, if you value your *real* family more than your *Dickens* family, well, it is your life...

Various shops, restaurants and the ale stands pay people to be there all day, or even just half of it. So while there's some initial outlay, you get some of it back as well. And while costuming is fussy, they're not nearly as fussy about the behind the scenes folks as they are about Other Books or Fezzis. Also, a bunch of people carpool, which cuts the cost of a parking pass, or even removes the need for one completely, if you find someone to travel with.

It's not a perfect solution if you want to play all day, but it's a solution.

I have a historically accurate, previously approved by the costume department, dickens fair outfit that I am going to be selling. I bought it from one of the girls of the GBACG. The bottom is red plaid. The top if black/red.
