... since Sunday 5 pm. The last gasp of Ike decided to surprise us, and suddenly living in an area with a lot of trees isn't such a great idea! No trees on the house or those of friends and immediate neighbors, but there are a lot down around about. We have everything except power - many around don't have water, so we are very lucky. It's nothing

There are people five minutes walk away from me who have power; I have friends within a mile or so who had it back Monday morning. Amazingly patchy restoration, but at least the weather's lovely now.

Hope your power is back up by now! Oddly enough, you guys got more destructive winds than the Dallas area did. Most of the bad stuff was just east of us. We were left with a beautiful week of cool temps and lovely north winds. Makes me think that fall might eventually get here after all.

I feel for those in Glaveston... they're in for a long recovery.

I saw Galveston when at a friend's place - yes, that looks truly dreadful.
