best body workout ever- walking. When it gets warmer- swimming pools are awesome- and then there is always yoga. Or- you could do what I did- just do the warm up exercises that you can do and repeat them for about 30 minutes or so. :D have fun!! ooh! or you could just turn on some music and boogie while you are cleaning house or something like that :D
Walking is a great start. Start on something easy then go different places with some hills or other challenges. Keeps things interesting for you while continuing with your goal.
If you do have a gym local... look for classes you might enjoy more. Like Zumba which is all dancing and therefore more fun than normal "gym" activities.
The key to starting for building ANY types of muscle structure is first finding something you enjoy doing or can make a habit. Start there :)
I too have lost just over 100lbs. I realized about a month ago that I couldn't do certain lower body exercises I thought I should be able to handle. Like side left lifts, hydrants, and side kicks. I started using the weight machines that concentrate on legs, and started the Wii Active program at home. One month in and I can now all these exercises. Yes, I do less reps and I really feel the work b/c those muscles are just getting built up...but see the changes in what I can do and that is worth the effort.
Pilates is a great way to build strength in the core muscles. You're using your own weight as resistance for a lot of the moves or using the bands. The classes with equipment are really the best for building strength in the core, but they can be expensive. Good luck!
