A Spacial Quandary. Also A To-Do List.

I'm not much for video games. They were utterly discouraged in my house when I was growing up, and now that I'm living on my own, I'd rather read a book. Still, I can't help but feel that if I'd played Tetris when I was Skinny, Freckled, Little!Emily, this entire day would have gone a bit more smoothly ( Read more... )

-Figure out what the weather is like, and dress hotly accordingly.

Prepare for everything. I am not being funny- the weather is genuinely unpredictable. There was a famous example of a weatherman not spotting a tornado before it hit the British Isles.

I had to make 3 separate plans for my birthday party in April- one if it was sunny, one if it was raining and one if it was so changeable that a hybrid of plans one and two could work. In the end I had a picnic- indoors.

Bring:
Warm clothes
Cool clothes
Breathable clothes
WATERPROOF SHOES
An umbrella
A waterproof jacket/coat
Something to ware if the day starts warm and gets cool (eg. big scarf)
Something to carry your spare garment in if the day starts cool but gets warm
Chapstick

That's it, I think. Good luck.

You're more than welcome. :3

Oh, by the way- something that is common in the summer here:

The temperature will be warm (say, 17 degrees C), and the sun will be out, but it will be windy and moist and there will be clouds in the sky.

Result?

It's too warm to wear heavy clothing without getting that sort of itchy hot feeling, but the wind will cut right through you. You'll feel the warmth of the sun, but also some very intense and uncomfortable concentrated rays of light brought about by the clouds. The damp can make your skin feel clammy, whilst you're feeling both hot and cold.

Remember- Arthur is prone to very bad mood swings. Unpredictable, uncontrollable moodswings.

One good point- We don't get extreme weather. Not really. You needn't worry about being caught out in floods, heatwaves, earthquakes or hurricanes of any great proportion.

It just pisses down here all bloody year... < / tsunder tsunder >

Hahaha where I come from, an average day is 102 degrees. So this is going to be interesting, to say the least.

But I'm going to get a chance to wear all my cute jackets!
