Summary:  Adam and Kris have a picture taken of them outside their new shop.  Is there really magic in the air?

Adam stood peeking through the window and Kris swayed back and forth behind the counter as he spun his spell tight around the skein of yarn he was currently rolling into a ball.  The muti-colored green yard could be used for many things, and it still made Adam smile every time he managed to catch Kris weaving a spell unaware that he was being watched.  Unfortunately, the minute Adam opened the door, the bell would ring and Kris would stop singing.  He really hated that bell.  He took a deep breath and opened the door.

Ding ding ding…went the bell.

“Ack!”  Yelled Kris as he spun around and then smiled up at his lover.  It sometimes amazed him that they were still together after all this time.  They had a rough start you see, but love won out and they were very committed to each other.  “You do that on purpose!”  Kris accused as he glared at Adam playfully.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”  Adam grinned at his boyfriend.

“Humph!  You were watching me through the window and waited until I was completely immersed in the spell before you opened the door.”  Kris waggled his finger in Adam’s direction.

Adam smiled wickedly as he leaned his bottom against the counter top.  “I still have no idea what you’re talking about Kris.”  His blue eyes twinkled with barely contained mirth.

Kris shook his head, finished rolling the yarn into its ball with the last of his spell sung in a whisper as he finished.  “Did you find out about the picture?  When can the photographer come and take it?”

Adam scowled.  “There’s a slight problem with that…”

Kris lay the yarn down and picked up another skein of the same color to wind up.  “What kind of problem?”

Adam sighed but didn’t elaborate.

“Adam?”  Kris asked as he turned to look at his lover.  “What kind of problem?”

“The paper wants to do a full story on the shop, Kris.  They want to put it front page and talk about all the things we sell here.”  Adam didn’t bother to look at him as he spoke these things, knowing how Kris felt about publicity like that and the danger it could pose if the wrong people got wind of what the shop really was.

Kris stopped singing his spell under his breath and looked at Adam.  “You mean like you wrote for Mother’s shop?”

Adam sighed again, “I have been offered to write this one as well but I’m not sure that’s a good idea since I own half of it and the other half is owned by you.”

“If you don’t write it, who will?  And why can’t they just take the picture and put the ad in the paper like I wanted?  Why does it have to be an article?”  Kris huffed; he really didn’t like this kind of thing.

“The other story was a huge hit with people and the paper thinks this has the same potential.”

“You still haven’t said who would be writing it if you don’t,” Kris reminded him.

“Um, yeah, well, it will be Martin.”  Adam waited for what he knew was coming.  He winced as Kris sat down the half rolled ball of green yarn.

“Martin?  MARTIN?!  The same Martin that…  Oh no you don’t Adam Lambert!  We’ll get someone else to take the picture and put it in a different paper.  No Martin!”

Adam played with his spider earring and frowned.  “Kris, I haven’t written that much since we started working on opening this shop, and I’m not sure that I’m the best person to write this as I am intimately involved in it.”  He leaned down and gave his boyfriend a quick kiss.

“Adam, I don’t like Martin!  How can I trust him to write what really needs to be said?”  Kris knew that Martin and Adam had ‘dated’ briefly and had sneered at Kris when Adam announced he was going to quit his job at the paper, go freelance and open a shop with his boyfriend.

Adam pulled Kris into his arms, smiling.  “Because he wouldn’t compromise a story just to piss you off, even a little story about our shop.”

Kris cuddled into Adam’s chest, breathing in his cologne and ignoring the fact that he was reacting to his boyfriends’ proximity as he always did.  He felt Adam’s chest shaking and peeked up to see Adam’s knowing smile.

“Turned on?”

Kris blushed and snuggled back into Adam.  “Always…” he whispered.

The kiss was heated that they shared and had they not been in the shop it would have led to other, more pleasurable endeavors.

The next morning found them both at the shop making sure that everything looked just the way they wanted for Martin and the photographer.  Kris was nervous that Martin would ask questions that neither one of them could answer, considering, for them at least, many of the things in the shop were truly magical.  Kris had sung the spells that would weave the magic into certain yarns and fabrics.  Adam, of course knew this, but they played it off to most of their customers.  The ones who came in that knew the truth, kept it to themselves and winked as they left the shop with each new magical purchase.  So it was safe to say that Kris did not trust Martin for more than one reason.  The secret was one that was precious to both of them and the magical items were kept on a shelf to themselves with warding spells that could only be seen through by someone with a magical eye.  Hopefully, everything would go smoothly and there would be no problems.

Kris felt arms come around him and envelope him in their warmth.  “What are you thinking about so hard, love?”  Adam asked as he kissed Kris’ neck.

“Martin.”  Kris answered in a breathy whisper as a shiver traveled through his frame.

Adam laughed softly, “Should I be jealous?”

Kris scoffed and smacked Adam’s forearm.  “You know better.”  He turned in Adam’s arms and leaned in for a sweet kiss and the bell over the door rang.

~~~~
Martin walked into the shop and saw Kris and Adam kissing.  The small pang of regret ran through him but he pushed it away and smiled.  No sense in letting a past mistake keep him there, in the past.
“Good morning gentlemen.  Are we ready to do this?”
Kris pulled out of Adam’s arms and gave Martin a tight smile.  “Good morning.”
Adam met him with a warmer smile and shook his hand.  He had forgotten how hot Adam’s hands were and as he pulled away felt a slight twinge in his heart again but pushed it down.  Adam showed him around the store and he couldn’t help but laugh at some of the names of yarn.  Kris followed closely behind them.
“I love the names,” he finally said, “is there a reason for them being so colorful?”
Adam’s eyes danced as he turned and pulled Kris up to stand in front of Martin.  “I’ll let Kris answer any questions you have.”
The two men stood and looked at each other, trying to balance out their feelings for each other.  Finally Kris smiled at Martin and put his hand on his shoulder, leading him to a shelf.
“You see this green yarn, it’s a special dye we use, we dye it ourselves and since we named the shop ‘The Witch’s Web’, we thought we would name our products we make ourselves along the same line.”
“And what’s the name of this one?”  Martin asked pointing at a black yarn.
“Familiar.”
Martin looked at him strangely.  “Familiar, why?”
Kris couldn’t keep the crooked grin off of his face.  “Because a witch’s familiar is usually a black cat and the yarn is black.”
Martin felt the first real smile slide onto his face since Adam had handed him over to Kris.  “Cleaver.  And what about this one?”  He asked pointing at another yarn.
“Eye of Newt.”  Kris said with a full out smile now.
Martin couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped as they moved through the store and Kris showed him beading products, needles and various things used to either knit, bead, or embroider.
“So how much of your products are made by you here?”  Martin asked.
Kris started in and answered all of Martins questions, much more at ease.
Adam smiled as he watched Kris lead Martin around the store.  He knew that Kris’ generous nature would win out once he got him going.  Kris was a softie at heart and couldn’t muster up being mean to someone unless he felt he had no other choice, and even then, he just avoided them.  It wasn’t that Kris didn’t have a temper, he did, but his normal state of being, of moving in the world was so laid back, that Kris just didn’t bother with people who upset him.
Adam thought back to when he had first met Kris and laughed at himself.  Kris most certainly could be a spit fire when he needed to be; he had laid into Adam more than once when he felt Adam had done something stupid.
Lost in his thoughts of his lover, he missed the fact that someone was asking him a question.  “Huh?”
Martin laughed, “Earth to Lambert, man.  Where were you?”
Adam pulled Kris into his arms and held him close, “Thinking about this one.”
Martin rolled his eyes.  “I said, do you want to add anything?”
“No, I’m sure Kris covered everything.”
“Then let’s get these pictures taken.”
Later that evening, at home, Adam watched Kris as he mixed up the dye for a special afghan he had been working on.  He was bouncing on one foot and twisting his butt and singing the spell to life like he always did as the dye was mixed.  He took the yarn and placed it in the dye and continued singing the spell, really getting into it now, bouncing from foot to foot.  This was the way Adam loved to see Kris best, when he was deep into the magic and didn’t realize he was being watched.  Adam smiled to himself, scratch that, he thought, the best way I like to see Kris is in bed.
He walked up behind his lover, slowly and quietly, and breathed on Kris’ neck.
“Ack!”  Kris turned around startled and smacked at Adam with a scowl on his face.  “You know I hate it when you do that!  Ugh!”
Adam laughed and wiggled his fingers in a tickle motion.
“No!  I’m in the middle of something here, can’t you see that?  Just No!”  Kris started backing away, pointing his finger at Adam.
Adam raised his eyebrows and wiggled his fingers more.
“Adam!  Stop it now…”  Kris worked his way around the counter, not taking his eyes off of Adam, still backing away.
Kris took off running just as soon as he cleared the counter.  He made the mistake of turning his head to see where Adam was, which slowed him down just enough for Adam to catch him.  Adam grabbed him around the waist and pulled him into his chest, digging his fingers into Kris’ side.
“AHHH!!  NO!!!”  Kris yelled and tried to get away by falling to the floor.  That didn’t work, since Adam just followed him down, tickling all the while.  Kris fell into peals of laughter until he couldn’t catch his breath.  He tried to wiggle out from beneath Adam but that only made Adam hold him tighter and tickle him more.  Kris bucked up to try to knock Adam off and they both stopped, looking at each other, huffing for breath.
Adam kissed him, brushing his lips lightly over Kris’ at first but then the kiss became more heated.
“Adam…”  Kris moaned as he slid his hand down…
~~~~

The next morning Kris couldn’t wait to see the paper to find out how the small article turned out and to look at the picture of him, Adam and the shop.  He rushed outside and brought the paper in.  He opened it up prepared to turn to find the article but he didn’t have too.  Martin’s editor had, indeed, put it on the front page.  Kris looked at the picture of himself and Adam in front of the shop window and smiled.

“Adam, come see!”  Kris yelled as he heard Adam coming through the house.

~~~~
Business more than doubled once the paper came out and they had to hire extra help part time to keep up with everything.  Kris was more than happy to do so as that meant they were doing very well.  Adam had told him to hire whomever he felt was a good fit, he trusted his judgment.
Kris had set up an interview this morning before the shop opened with a man who sounded relatively young on the phone.  When he heard the slight knock on the front door, he looked up to see a blonde man peeking through.  He smiled and opened the door.
“Come on in, you must be Tommy.”  Kris said gesturing for the man to come in.
“Yes.”  Tommy held out his hand for Kris to shake.
As Kris took Tommy’s hand, he could feel the power flow through the man and into him.  He pulled his hand away a little too fast and could tell that Tommy had felt it too.
“You’re a witch?”  Kris asked with widened eyes.
Tommy blushed but nodded his head.  “It’s one of the reason’s that I wanted to interview for this job since the name of the shop is The Witch’s Web.  I thought I might fit in for a change.”
Kris took the time to really look Tommy over, the slight make up, the painted nails and the darker hair beneath the blonde.  He smiled and turned his head to the side.  “Do you practice?”
“Are you asking me if I do spells?”
“Yes.”
“I can whip up a few.”
“Are you willing to learn the spells we use to make the magical things we sell?”  Kris asked, excitement running through him.
“Of course.  I was hoping that you would be willing to teach me.”  Tommy confessed.
Kris hired Tommy on the spot.
Adam and Kris were pleased with the addition of their new employee for more than one reason; it gave them an afternoon and evening off twice a week now that Tommy was trained well.  Adam had planned a romantic dinner for this night because it was special to them.  He was almost certain that Kris thought he had forgotten about today and how important it was.
“Kris!  Are you ready?”  Adam yelled from the living room.
“Yes, coming!”  Kris grabbed his leather jacket and met Adam at the door. “Where are we going anyway?”
Adam just smiled as he closed Kris’ car door.
Once they arrived at the restaurant, Adam was a perfect gentleman, as he helped Kris sit down and then held his hand while they waited for their waiter to come and take their drink orders.  They talked about the shop, about how well Tommy was doing and how nice it was for them to be able to have two half days off.  When their food came, it was good and conversation slowed down a little as they ate.  Kris decided he wanted pie for dessert and as they were waiting for that, he asked Adam a question.
“So, why are we out tonight Adam?”
Adam swallowed nervously, “This is the anniversary of the first day we met.”
Kris looked up quickly, “It is?”
“You know you remember.”  Adam scooted his chair back, stood and then bent on one knee.  “I’ve loved you for a long time, Kris and we’ve been together long enough now that I know that you are the one that I want to spend the rest of my life with.”  He pulled a small box out of his pocket and held it open.  “Will you marry me?”
Kris was stunned but happy tears formed in his eyes.  “I can’t think of anything I want more than to marry you.”
Adam slid the diamond band on Kris’ finger and kissed him just as the pie arrived.
“I love you so much Kris.”
“I love you too Adam.”
