Stan did something today that he's done many times in the past, but only today did I actually connect any significance to it. He jumped up on the toilette and started meowing. I used to think it was one of the ways to tell me he wanted his bath, but this time, not only is it 9am (bathtime is at night) but I also forgot to drain the tub last night

A smart owner always has a smart cat. If your cat is dumb, then chances are, you're dumb, too. Animals do mirror their people's minds!! My cats have always been smart, affectionate, and aggressively defensive of me and our home. I wish I had a kitty, now! ;P

You do know that you can toilet train your cat right? It sounds like he's smart enough to figure it out, plus he's young. And it's only a minor inconvenience while you're training. Google for how to do it. I tried, but my kitties are too lazy and/or nervous to jump up on the toilet.
