Meat.

Don't give 'em any on the bone if you can help it. Else, it'll splinter and catch in the throat.

Yes. Captain Kirk has been watching him, but given his recent trip home, it seemed prudent to find a temporary - caretaker.

Well, back when I had a dog, I just, um. Fed it whatever I was eating at the time. It didn't seem to hurt it or anything, so. Maybe that would work?

Or you could maybe ask the Admiral for pet supplies. I don't know.

I'm a vegetarian. I don't know if he would dislike what I eat. Meat has been suggested.

...Oh. Well, then. You could always offer, because. If a dog's hungry enough, it'll eat most anything. But, um. Yeah, meat's a good bet if it doesn't end up liking the veggies.

They eat substantially more protein and less carbohydrates than we might. Something with plenty of vitamins.

[And Bob is officially the most helpful person ever.] I see. I suppose that preferences would be individually based. [How evolved are these things, sh never figured that one out.]

I suppose they would be, yes, but dogs generally aren't all that picky unless they've been spoiled. They have to work for it, to be happy, you see.
