Witchwinter 2007-2008

While I would like there to be another Witchwinter this year, I am concerned about hosting it on Livejournal with the current climate. I would like to host it on Livejournal as usual, but I do not want to put the participants in danger. I also do not want to limit the fest to G-rated material, and I no longer trust that such material would be ( Read more... )

Most of the fandom fest comms seem to be going under lockdown, so maybe getting people to lock fic and art rated over PG may be an idea. I do want to participate in the fest again & prefer to stay on LJ as I don't really like IJ, but GreatestJournal is another possibility as I have parallel accounts over there.

I think the consensus is IJ. I know several fests are moving over there and I've already reserved the space for wizard_love there too. So...yeah. Squeaky @ IJ seems very very receptive to us so why not take advantage of his good will?

I'm a grateful watcher. I sympathise with your problems, it's so hard to know how this is all going to turn out, and fanartists must feel so vulnerable at the moment.

LJ say that even locked posts still fall under the same 'obscenity' rules, so I don't see how locking higher rated stuff will help. And anyone can easily friend the comm, so if people are joining just to do the nasty and report art/fic, it's no barrier, right? Locking keeps out underage lurkers, for sure, but I don't think it's going to help in the current situation.

I just got myself an IJ account. I've heard they're more fandom friendly there, but who knows what'll happen if they're put under pressure in the future.

Sorry I don't have proper advice.

I vote for IJ! Squeaky is publicly in favor of fandom, and lots of comms are moving over there. Also, it's my favorite of the LJ clones.

I was very sad that I missed it last year since I've been wanting to try my hand at femmeslash. If you decide to host it at InsaneJournal, I will happily get myself a journal and sign up there. :)
