[action] training center

Jul 08, 2011 13:12

[Cid was, in all truth and honesty, not an usual visitor to the training center. He took no real pleasure from killing the monsters here, as it tended to only remind him of the brand he bore; Cid far preferred other methods of training, methods that didn't involve magic and the like ( Read more... )

[Before the countdown could end, though, the T-Rexuar's feet abruptly leave the ground. It takes a moment to see why, but as the beast describes a massive arc in the air, it's fairly obvious -- Jecht has grabbed its tail, and has whipped it through a 180 arc to smash it into the ground on the opposite side of him.]

[He dusts his hands off in satisfaction, picks up the sword he'd thrust into the ground, and then noticed Cid.]

Whoa! Thought that one was a little sleepy. Uh, didn't know it was yours...

[Cid watches the monster fly up and then crash back down the ground, his eyebrows rising slightly as he sees who was behind the sudden movement. Well, he shouldn't be surprised to find someone else here--it isn't exactly a private area after all.]

It's no trouble. [Cid offers Jecht a wan smile.] It was my fault for not fighting it in earnest.

I've had much to think about of recent. [He gestures broadly at the area around them.] I had come here in hopes of taking my mind off of things.

[A chuckle.]

I do not think my plan is working all that well though.

[Clearly, if he's not noticing the werepanther that comes from absolutely nowhere and punches the T-Rexaur in-between the eyes! It even falls to the ground before jumping back and roaring at its newest attacker.

Tom's not even breaking a sweat as he motions for the T-Rexaur to bring it. To Cid, he grins:] What's up? You don't look so hot.

[At the sound of the T-Rexaur roaring, Cid reacts by automatically casting dazega again. It's only when he hears Tom's voice that he finally gets jolted out of his thoughts.]

Tom, what a surprise to see you here. I was... [He chuckles and shakes his head.] ...I was lost in thought. Apologies.

Don't apologize to me! [He laughs, tilting his head at the T-Rexaur before jumping back towards Cid.] I'm more worried about you and the big guys.

But seriously. You sure you're okay?

Some recent events involving those from my own world have left me a little less than pleased.

[He offers the other a brief smile before looking at the T-Rexaur.]

But perhaps we should finish this one off first. That spell should be just about ready to finish...

[Sharpay doesn't come here often either, but she's wanted to get fitter for Homecoming, and the Training Center's a pretty good place to meet people she usually doesn't see to try and make them vote for her.

[When she sees a T-Rexaur, she blasts a Blizzaga at it before she notices that it's kind of just standing there, and so is the person whose kill she may be sniping.

[Huh. There's the competition for Homecoming, not paying attention to the GIANT DINOSAUR at all.]

Earth to Raines! [She waves a hand.]

[Cid notices the T-Rexaur getting hit by a blizzaga in a sort of distant kind of way--like he's watching a movie or something. At the sound of his name, though, he turns to look at Sharpay.]

Evans? [He gives her an apologetic smile.] Apologies. I was lost in my thoughts.

No need to apologize; I'd just hate to see a fellow SeeD get taken out by a training monster because he was distracted.

[Even Sharpay wouldn't stoop to taking out the competition... Though she shoots Cid a bit of a smile, she does keep a wary eye on the T-Rexaur.]

[He chuckles at that and dips his head in acknowledgement.]

It would be a rather pitiful way to go, if I may say so myself.

[Cid throws another dazega to keep the beast under as doom works its magic.]

Are you an usual visitor here? I would have thought you would be out and about campaigning in your free time.

[ There is a glowing woman coming to stand calmly close to Cid, looking up at the looming T-rexaur that is frozen in place. She has no intention of finishing it off for him; the training centers serves as a place she can backflip away from grat hordes to keep her edge, she's not interested in violence. ]

Impressive battle magic.

[Cid absently tears his gaze away from the T-Rexaur to see the... glowing woman. Well. That is certainly different and plenty new enough to get him to focus his attention on her.

He dips his head slightly in thanks.]

Impressive it may be, but it's something I'd rather not have. [A pause. He looks at her curiously.] I don't believe we've met before. Cid Raines.

[He extends his hand for a handshake. In the meantime, the beast in the background succumbs to doom and... falls over rather unceremoniously.]

[ Elika sidesteps calmly, narrowly avoiding a great toppling T-rexaur head. The glow fades, and she accepts the handshake. Her grip is firm. ]

Elika. A pleasure, Mr. Raines. If I may...isn't battle magic more convenient to have than otherwise? [ She looks pointedly at the T-Rexaur. ] Considering the variety of our opponents.

That may very well be the case.

[But what with the way he looks at the now dead dinosaur, he doesn't exactly seem very... convinced.]

In my own world, we have managed to use technology to replicate the effects of magic. Very useful, but perhaps not quite as intuitive as the real thing.

You'd think a guy'd be a little more excited about taking down a giant lizard. You just look like someone trashed your house.

That may be the case, but--[Cid turns to look at the speaker, only to find... the janitor?

...Did janitors normally come into the training center to train?]

This is certainly a surprise.

[Only when they need to look after their princesses.

The Prince doffs an imaginary hat, glancing over at the T-rexaur just in case.]

I could say the same for you. Problem, Instructor?

Is it that strange to see me here? [Cid glances back at the T-Rexaur and then the Prince.] It should be dead soon.

[He throws another dazega at the beast, just to be sure it doesn't wake before doom finishes counting down.]
