SWM! Cadets feel free to toss in here! nomark1or2 June 24 2011, 22:45:17 UTC
[Jecht is rather grumpily pointing at a chalk board as he looks out at his class.]

Awright, let's take a moment to review. Yer all supposed to be able ta hold yer breath underwater for how long?

[Given that he's pointing at a big '20', the answer may be obvious.]

An' so far yer only managin'... what?

[3:43 is somewhat less that 20. It also has a frowny face next to it.]

[Quistis certainly hopes that Jecht means twenty seconds. Regardless, she remains quiet as she sits in the back, waiting to see how the cadets respond to the instructor.]

["Sora" is looking miserable. Partly because he's regretting this class, partly because he's only just learned how to swim, partly because Jecht doesn't fit his ideal of a teacher. At all.]

Isn't it rare that anyone can hold their breath that long?

Dance Class Cadets! goldincartoss June 24 2011, 22:53:59 UTC
[Oli is on the floor, stretching his leg muscles by doing to the splits perfectly.]

I don't expect you to be able to get this far, but you need to stretch as far as you can. Remember, stretching before and after class reduces the chance of injury. [His tone suddenly becomes much less serious.] It's also where you feel the burn the most! So feel it!

[And he's up on his feet!]

Okay. So. We're swing dancing this week, and as it's Friday it's paired evaluations and remember. For the love of all the gods in every world, make sure that you are concentrating. Lifts are dangerous when performed incorrectly. But other than that, relax let the music take you and have fun!

[Espio is grouching off to the side, not really interacting with anyone in here while he does his own stretches - the ones he does before a work-out rather than anything especially for dance. He... looks bored. And the class only just started.

Who knows if/how he's gonna get a partner for these evaluations.]

Not to criticise your stretches at all because they're very good for other things, however you need to stretch your inner thighs more and really make sure you've got those arm muscles nice and stretched. Swing is all about the looseness and lifts.

[He's not picking on you at all. Just being a teacher. And he'll find you a partner. Even if he makes you do it with him after the class gets out.]

Uh-huh. Right, right, I got it.

Even if you are aiming for the silliest-looking dance ever seen.

MOV101 any time? subjected June 25 2011, 21:06:07 UTC
[ Well, Quistis should see very little reason to find anything wrong with Claire's classes- she's pretty fair if not all that lenient, and... apparently lacking a sense of humor entirely. But needless to say, she definitely knows what she's doing, at least.

Nope, no problems here, save for... well, you know, two particular cadets who she barely even looks at. It's probably not noticeable at all unless you were searching for it: the fact that even though she'll go about and offer pointers and the like to everyone else, it's Vanille and Serah who have to work off overall instruction and student interaction entirely....

It would be pretty inadvisable for anyone to try and make her look bad, though. Just saying. ]

[Quistis does in fact find little wrong with Claire's class after a bit of time observing-- actually, Quistis even has a bit of admiration for how the woman deals with her class. Firm in her teaching, but not exactly overbearing. There's no question that Claire knows exactly what she's doing and that she's had plenty of experience in the subject.

Nonetheless she lets the class continue on without interference, silently watching from the sidelines and making the occasional note or two in her notepad.]

[ It definitely doesn't take long for Claire to notice the new addition to the classroom. And with that notepad? Have no doubt that she knows exactly what the woman must be doing-- or at least think she does.

... Not that she's intimidated at all. If anything, being under scrutiny has the odd effect of making things easier for her...

As soon as there's the chance, she makes her way over while the cadets are busy practicing, her demeanor and tone deliberately neutral- ]

Is there anything I can help you with, Lieutenant Commander?

[Quistis spots Claire making her way over towards her, and her posture immediately straightens as she takes on a more poised stance.]

Please, call me Quistis. I was just making my way through the classes to see how everything is going. [A corner of her lips perk up into a small smile.] It's clear that you have everything perfectly under control, though.

[Mitsuru isn't certain she approves of just how humid it is in the training center. The air is hot, muggy, and makes her thoughts feel much more sluggish.

…Of course, that might also be due to the left over bits of fire magic from Thursday. Which had not gone as well as she'd hoped for, in the slightest. Mitsuru knows that it's all just a collection of nerves and psychosomatic associations speaking…But that doesn't change the fact that her skin is still feeling a touch raw, and Penthesilea is still stirring restlessly in the back of her mind.

It's a bit of a chore to focus past all that and listen to the instructor going over the proper procedure on junctioning a Guardian. Off in the undergrowth, she can see one of the volunteer SeeDs standing ready, prepared to herd some grats in to be killed via summoning.

Mitsuru frowns as she continues to listen; since they have an option of using an ice-based Guardian, she hopes that will make things a touch easier.]

[Quistis is quite use to the muggy atmosphere of the Training Center now-- it barely affects her despite the starchy material of her SeeD uniform, though she has always favored wearing her battle gear whenever heading into the jungle climate.

Regardless, Quistis tries her best to blend in with the foliage in the back of the class as all the other cadets listen to the instructor's lecture. Her eyes wander through the crowd of students every now and then, and she can't help but notice a redhead who seems just a touch out of it. Perhaps the Training Center is too stuffy?

Nonetheless, the Lieutenant Commander remains quiet as she assesses the class, taking down the odd note or two on her notepad whenever she spots something worth mentioning in her notes.]

[For her part, Mitsuru is focused hard on the teacher, trying to match up everything being said with last week's lessons, and her own research in the library. And, from the way she's looking at the teacher, Mitsuru seems to be treating this as if she's being told to put a gun to her head...And quite likely not an Evoker.

And before long, the teacher wraps down the explanation, and Mitsuru, in front of the class, finds herself as one of the first up.

Time to see if that gun is loaded or unloaded, then.]

"Excuse me, instructor?"

[But not without double checking a few things, first.]

"To clarify...We do have a choice of which summon we'll be using? And this junctioning will be...Brief?"

[She doesn't intend for that pause to be in there, but again, Penthesilea is being surprisingly active in the middle of the day. Some of those questions might even be an attempt to get that part of her mind to settle down long enough for the class to wrap up.]

[Quistis listens to the cadet and her question, unconsciously nodding when the instructor answers both inquiries positively. It's understandable that the first attempt at junctioning and summoning can be a bit daunting; even Quistis had a bit of trouble her first time around.

Of course, Quistis also remembers the many mishaps of cadets both while she was a student and during her brief stint as an instructor. Because of this, she steps out of the bushes and closer to the group of gathered cadets, ready to assist if any problems should arise.]
