Argh, Rezo... you used to be almost tragic...

Mar 17, 2009 17:56

The overall feeling about Rezo right now seems to be "ARGH HOW DARE HE BE SUCH A JERK!" only in much less... delicate words... and a bit of lingering hope that maybe he wasn't quite the jerk he seems to be. The subs increased these feelings, as well as made everyone want to give poor Zel and Pokota big hugs.

This did spawn this image: ( The REAL REASON Rezo is in a jar! )

Hiring Booley, perhaps? Somehow, that would not shock me.

Poor young!Zel obviously worshipped Rezo. That makes me suspect that at some point Rezo truly was good. However--and perhaps he used Rezo's frustration with his blindness as a lever--Shabranigdo's influence probably grew over time.

I want to believe that Rezo wasn't always evil... and he really probably wasn't, but I'm a bit ticked at the guy right now... -_-;;;

Good thing I'm not overly prone to character assassination anymore. I always go over the good qualities of a character (of course, for Rezo, at this point it's more like "Uhh... okay, he helped them kill Shabranigdu! Sorta... And... uh..." I'll think of more things later.)

I feel you. Although this does answer one issue people had been raising after seeing only the raw. I've seen some fans complaining that merely having the kids react badly to him didn't seem like "enough" to really embitter Zel...but when you consider that he wanted to protect the kids becaues of how much he admired Rezo, and that Rezo experimented on young!Zel purely for his own devices (knowing the consequences full well).... Yeah, the guy was a rat-bastard.

I think Dilgear and Noonsa betraying Zelgadis might've also had something to do with it. Remember how happy he was when Zolf and Rodimus took his side?

I posted a similar theory when I posted my last Slayers abridged post. It would explain why the other countries didn't help, especially Seyrune. My theory is that Rezo told the other countries to stay out of Taforashia. If the famous Red Priest told them not to get involve, why would they deny his request?

Am I the only one thinking that younger Zelgadis is very similar to how Pokota worshiped Rezo?

I don't think that Rezo would be able to directly tell them not to get involved, because then someone would have mentioned it. Phil, especially would not have kept something like that from them. It would have also been highly suspicious.

Not at all, I noticed that it was pretty similar, too.

(And on that note, I think Younger Zel would have gotten along really well with Amelia right from the beginning. :))

..there are (more than just a tiny amount of) people who like rezo?

I think that the whole "Threatening to turn every person on earth into stone, one by one" and "Will screw world for sight" are kinda evil.

Just a bit.

Well, there's that tiny little bit where he was possessed by the dark lord of that world, who may have had something to do with his actions.

You know, maybe.

Then whoever was responsible for that "Magical Seal Of Demon-Stoppingness" (tm) needs to be fired.

OUT OF A CANNON.

That'd be Ceipheed, I'm afraid.

And he's already dead.

And I don't think you're going to be able to shoot what's left of him (Luna) out of a cannon.

I'm not that suprised...he just has a hard time getting over the fact that he is now, in fact, awesome.

That, or the laws of the anime multiverse force him to hate his "curse", as it was placed on him maliciously and not comedic, even though it's pretty cool.

If Ichiban_Victory comes and murders you, and you get blood on my livejournal, I shall be very, very angry.

And, you know, there's also the issue with him being sterile now.

And Zelgadis is not awesome, what are you talking about?

Let us consider:

He has swordsman skills that let him cleave monsters in half, as though they did not actually have a skeleton.

He can cast a spell that kills everything that's not an astral being.

He can produce explosions with ease.

Normal people break their hands when trying to punch him.

Incredibly bishie despite his curse.

Romantically involved with some insane ninja healer princess.

You have a point with the sterile thing, though. Actually, how the hell do his organs work? I mean...think on it...

And if she were to try..first, she would have to get through the Shin Getter Dragon! Among other things. Mostly mecha.

Why are you replying to my entry and not to the comments? O_o

Gourry can do that without being a chimera.
Amelia has the same spell.
So can everyone else in the series.
Doesn't help him much...
He's not a bishie.
Okay, yes, he is romantically involved with a ninja healer princess, but that's where the whole unable to reproduce thing comes in.

Whatever you say.

Not the NPCs. He's better than 90% of the population.

...Yeah, the sterile thing is kinda a drawback. I mean, can he even get an erection? Or would it just cause the stone to...ow...

Yes, yes I do say.

Oi oi oi, keep your comments on my LJ low profile, kay?

(And I've already heard enough discussion on that matter to make my ears burn.)
