How many weeks? How many sheiks?

1. Ah, the power of traffic to rule one's summer schedule. One of my projects for ESOL certification class is to visit DeKalb Farmer's Market and write about the cultural representations that I observe. I really wanted to go today (and get in some grocery shopping while there), but unless I'd left at noon, there was no way I could get across ( Read more... )

"Where and When Is Stephen Going to the Persian Gulf?" is my current earworm.

Mine too. It's catchy, ain't it. I get that it's a Matt Lauer parody, but since I never once saw that, I just have to take it on faith.

Same here. And the visuals really make it, especially bare-assed Stephen.

I've got to get me some Sports Night. Nice to see Sepinwall is reviewing it.

We get Wine SPectator but Mr. Bee informs me that it was as a result of excess airline miles, so I'm afraid that's not very helpful. : /

Drat! I just checked AA.com because I have a few miles there, but they only offer Food & Wine -- and Dad said he didn't want that one. Thanks anyway for the tip!

And yeah, I loved Sports Night, even though I'm not at all into sports. I think I've always been slightly bitter toward The West Wing because it was one of the reasons SN got canceled. (Sorkin apparently got tired of SN because he was working on TWW, so he let it die rather than accepting a last-minute renewal offer. My memory might be faulty there, though.) Anyway, rewatching SN is really interesting because although in some ways its a product of its time period and doesn't hold up well, it also has such brilliance scattered throughout.

I heard Conan O'Brien doing that exact same YouTwitFace joke Tuesday night. Did Colbert really say the same thing?

Oops - that's where it's from. I had Semagic open all week and had typed it out (without the original credit) but assumed it was from Colbert because I watch him all the time. Will fix.

Thank you ever so much for the link to that Jamie pic. :O

Also, I saw a special screening of The Hangover a couple of weeks ago and it really wasn't bad. Unbelievably silly but guaranteed laughs.

Oh, and Bradley Cooper was there. *G* He stayed for a total of five minutes, but still. That is one fine specimen of a man right there.

That Jamie pic is truly maaaaaaarvelous -- and I'm not even generally a fan of the half-naked pics. (I guess I'm a bit prudish when it comes to showing skin!)

Bradley Cooper! I still remember posting to LJ shortly after the pyramid ball scene in "Home 1". There's that shot of Lee smiling as he's playing with the ball, and he looks EXACTLY like Bradley right there. It's uncanny. They should play brothers onscreen someday. (Along with Dean Winters and Callum Keith Rennie, and Amy Sedaris and Kristen Chenowith.)
