A fangirl without a show.

1. What is it about school vacations that makes me want to cook and cook? Especially since the results seldom turn out well. But! Yesterday I had a strange yen to make bread, so I started poking around online for a good recipe. Despite my not being Jewish (or even really Christian anymore, for that matter), I found myself making challah! And ( Read more... )

Have you watched the recent Dollhouse episodes? I feel like it's starting to pick up some momentum and get better. I'm hopeful, anyway - I really want it to be great!

Yeah, I liked the episodes and can see myself becoming fannish about the show. I'm just resisting that fannish vibe for many, many reasons. ;)

FNL? Hmm. I guess that, for me, the issue is that despite my love for the show overall, I don't really have any burning desire to see into their interior lives and explore them (or "solve" problems) via fanfic or meta. I love Coach/MrsCoach to itty bitty pieces, yet their relationship is so perfect that I can't see myself writing fic about it -- I'd almost have to spoil them in order to generate angst, and I can't bear to do that! And I've never been as interested in the younger characters. So. I guess I'm just happier tuning in every week rather than taking the step into fanfic. :)

And yes, AD rewatches are a wonderful thing. When I'm done with a fandom show, I'm DONE. I can't even rewatch episodes. But I often rewatch my favorite sitcoms, especially AD. Maybe because I don't have that fandom connection to them? Hmm.

Lovely challah!! Try slicing and freezing. Then when you want some, just pop a slice in the microwave for a few seconds.

The socks are even more gorgeous in the daylight!! Where'd you get that sumptuous yarn? ;0P

I find myself fading away a little bit from my show.

Woe!! Guess I need to hurry up and carve out some time if we're ever to collaborate on K/L again? :D :( That, or find you a new fandom!

*hugshugs*

Tell me this: if you could design your perfect show to spec, what would it be about (or what genre would it be in), who would be in it, and who would write/run it? :)

(hey, maybe Katee's new show will turn out to be amazing, and be picked up, and we can all watch that!!)

Ah, thanks for the challah freezing suggestion!

And thanks again for the yarn! I really, really love it SO much. *hugs*

Designing my perfect show? Wow, that's a tough question. I have no idea how I would create an "archetype" of the kind of show I like. I just know it when I see it, I guess. :)

And yeah, maybe Katee's new show will be wonderful, assuming it's picked up. Don't know if it's a "fandom" type of show for me, but I really hope we get the chance to see it! (NBC reran her L&O episode earlier, and I like seeing her in that kind of universe. Speaking ... maybe I should just make Matt Devlin my new fandom. ;)

Re: challah - it's funny, we even forgot it was Passover tonight! (in our defense, Indi!kid is on her third day home with a fever) oh well, maybe we'll do something this weekend.

I have no idea how I would create an "archetype" of the kind of show I like.

Oh, no, not so much an archetype as just, "wow, I would love to see Katee and [name] in a romantic office-type comedy" or "damn, wouldn't Jamie be great as a snotty lawyer-type in a serial drama!" :)

Personally, I'd love to see Jamie in an action film like Wanted, or in some kind of elegant suspense thing: Wait Until Dark-ish or Hunt for Red October, updated. (Or Match Point.) And Katee in a drama series. Not so much crime-related. I can't decide if I want to see her do something like Brothers and Sisters, with the potential for light comedy here and there, or something more "serious". I'm thinking more "Act of Contrition" than brash mini-series Starbuck.

Your bread looks awesome! And cute socks! :)

I feel the same way as you re: slipping away from BSG. I started a Kara and Helo BFF fic after the finale, but now I'm losing steam and dunno if I can finish it. I find that watching the BSG people on their new shows makes me miss them less. Tricia was just on an ep of Chuck. And of course there's Jamie on L&O:UK and Tahmoh on Dollhouse.

And then tonight, I changed the channel and Nip/Tuck was on with Katee! Since I haven't watched the show since the middle of season 2, I'm not sure how new/old it was, but I was amused by her character. Very modern/present-day Starbuck with a little more girliness and sexiness. You should definitely track it down if you haven't seen it already.

"Losing steam" is a good way to put it. Fortunately, I seem to be gaining some back on this current fic, knock on wood. :)

I never did see Katee on Nip/Tuck, mostly because I *hate* that show. Maybe I'll get bored and give it a shot someday!

Challah on Pesach is a little wrong.

Maybe give Torchwood a shot?

Yeah, that's why I mentioned above that it didn't quite fit the holiday since it's leavened. :)
