1. My classes continue to work on expository reading, this time focusing on how to determine which information is relevant to a task. Today I gave them a list of situations (going to a movie, cooking dinner for your family, etc...) and asked them to list five things they would need to know before beginning the task. That essay is so fabulous -- it definitely needs some editing, but I love that he wrote it. And yup, he's such a 'shipper. ;)

Hmm, there was background info in there I didn't know about. Is this stuff he's just made up to flesh out the character in his own mind, or do we assume that it's going to come up in future episodes?
