How do you solve a problem like Alanna?

1. My classes continue to work on expository reading, this time focusing on how to determine which information is relevant to a task. Today I gave them a list of situations (going to a movie, cooking dinner for your family, etc...) and asked them to list five things they would need to know before beginning the task. One group received the prompt ( Read more... )

For some reason, I'm laughing hysterically at the quirky little grin on Gaeta's face in the last pic. What is up with that? Maybe he's just remembering the time he accidentally walked in as Gaius was getting out of the shower.

Perhaps he's glad that he's not a pilot and can just sit back and watch everyone else beat the crap out of each other. ;)

Wow, that Scrubs video is awesome. It reminds me a little of how excited I was for the Buffy musical.

Donald Faison will always have a place in my heart for that one scene in Clueless where he's in the bathroom having his head shaved, and his explanation to his horrified girlfriend is "because I'm keepin it real". I don't know why, but I think of that line all the time and want to use it in real life situations. Haven't yet, though.

I have a feeling the Scrubs musical will be nowhere near the quality of OM,WF. But I still kinda love them for doing it. ;) And yup, I remember that Donald Faison scene. He's just darling!

Oh, yay! I've been a hardcore Grant-Lee Phillips* fangirl for years. If you want more of his songs, I have a bunch up here. You'll have to do a mouse-over to see the titles, but hey.

*His mid-'90s band was named Grant Lee Buffalo. :)

Yay! Thanks for the link to the songs. I am at work now and have been playing that one song over and over as I've just started a new job and haven't uploaded all my MP3s yet. I think I heard the song about 30 times now. At last vairety :)

I really do like Lee, though I like him best when he's interacting with Kara -- the more fucked-up, the better.

But Kara herself? Omigod. I love her SO DAMN MUCH. (And I'd so totally do her. ;)

thanks for linking the Apollo by Bamber.

it's a fascinating bit of both shallowness and depth I think.

interesting that he mentions Kara as de facto maxims. He explores his moralistic and religious motivations, but the Kara mentions are so brief. Maybe that's on purposen not wanting to spotlight Starbuck too much in his own bio. But then it's kinda like talking about one side of a coin without acknowledging the other side.

I also find it interesting that he thinks Zak met Kara first. Has more or Eick ever substantiated this?

lots to ponder

I think KS (maybe?) mentioned in some interview that the story was that she met Zak first - and then when she met Lee she realized she'd met the wrong brother first. I can't remember if that was supposed to have come from their official BSG Bible or if that was just her speculation.
