Icebound and not loving it.

Third day off from work this week. Aside from quite a few strolls around my apartment complex, I hadn't left my flat since Sunday afternoon. Needless to say, I'm going stir-crazy! It didn't seem so bad outside anymore. The driveway was (mostly) clear, and I really, really needed to get out of here. It took fifteen minutes to clear 5" of snow ( Read more... )

You could always knit an army of Adipose babies ;)

I'm glad you made it back home safely! Hang in there; this too shall melt.

Whee! Alas, I do not have yarn suitable for Adiposes (Adipii?), and I've already started a cardigan. But that is very tempting.

(Also: River Song! Love her. She was great on Craig Ferguson last week. ;)

Hee! That's a great turn of phrase. ;)

Unlike the ENTIRE REST OF THE CITY. I have been at work all week.
I will be here until midnight tonight as well. Sometimes being in theater
sucks.

Ouch! Do you at least have an easy-ish commute to work? (And I swear, one of these days I need to see your shows. :)

It has been a very scary commute from I85 and Shallowford to midtown.
There only thing that got me there was my front wheel drive ca.

Yeah. As a born and bred Yank, I giggle every time a Southern city closes school for an inch of snow. An inch of ice, however? Right there with ya. Close everything down! Don't go anywhere! I hate that stuff. It's scary.

Heh. I'll admit that we do tend to overreact like crazy. ;) The thing about it is that we often get ice after the snow -- and this time the ice has been brutal. What's funny is that school was indeed canceled tomorrow, and there's a good chance we won't have school on Friday. Monday was already a holiday (MLK Day is kind of a big deal in Atlanta), so we could end up with ten full days off including weekends. Yikes!

Your street looks like my street. http://www.flickr.com/photos/shayitp/

I'm wondering if I'll be able to get to work on Friday. Tomorrow's a wash already. You saw they weren't even plowing the first day or two? The usual procedure is to salt/sand and it will melt by itself. That usually works.

Then every 10 years this happens. Could be worse. WSBTV weather guy was saying that if the storm had "exploded" in the gulf like it did off the atlantic coast before socking new england, we could have gotten 1 to 2 FEET of snow. I'm trying to imagine that.

Ah, that looks familiar. I almost went by the Publix that's in the same shopping area as Panera, but I suspected they wouldn't have much. I'll need to go tomorrow, since I just realized that I'm almost out of cat food. Oops. Fortunately, my car's still parked at the bottom of that driveway hill, and once I'm out of the complex the roads aren't that bad ( ... )

During that ice storm, my power was out for 3 and a half days.
So I don't mind this one as much :).

Oof! I'm glad you and your car are OK! How nice of that maintenance guy.

Any suggestions of something to keep me busy? ;)

Hmm. I'd say set up an index of every instance where pilots appear in a scene together, but that might get tedious too. :) You could... make a matching set of bedding for Neph2? Something geek-themed? :D

Technically, it was his job. ;) Still, quite nice of him! I'm just glad that the complex's office was staffed today. I probably could've gotten someone else to help me, though, since my car was totally blocking the driveway.

Spreadsheet, huh? Actually, Sis suggested last night that I could make another book for Neph's upcoming birthday. Remember the dinosaur one I made last year? Now he's really into space, so I might start finding stellar .jpgs that I can print out on the fancy color laser printers when (if!) I get back to work. *g*
