It's a great day for an apocalypse.

We're starting a schoolwide literacy class this year -- thirty minutes at the start of every day, with silent reading and mini-lessons on comprehension and vocabulary. Today I got an email outlining our lesson plans for the rest of the week. Wednesday: "Watch a 15-minute interview with Suzanne Collins about her series, The Hunger Games, then ( Read more... )

Lol what are the "few complications?" (Are they the fact that you hate blood and gore? That'd be kind of amusing.) And what kind of accent was that at the beginning of the trailer? Southern British? Hee.

MJ is soooo heavy man. But HG isn't too bad I think.

Ha! I'm actually fine with the blood and gore. I've read the entire series of 76 comics, and -- without getting spoilery -- some seriously dark shit happens. On the drive home today, I was thinking that many of the events and themes are similar to BSG, but on a much smaller scale. Also, I'll admit that 'ships draw me into a fandom through the potential for fic and such, but I really don't see any potential ones here that would get to me the same way that Kara/Lee or my other previous OTPs did. Not that it matters all THAT much in the end, but it's a complication. *g ( ... )

Ah, Ships draw me in too. That's kind of the piece I need to get all fic-write-y about it. I'm not sure why that is. My heart doesn't lie in gen fic in general I guess. (And I'm not a huge fan of Sarah Wayne Callies. But maybe she'll impress me more here.)

To his credit, I only noticed the accent being really weird in the first line he said. (Still wish Jamie had gotten it!)

Yeah I'm not sure how dark is too dark. I remember reading some crazy shit (Flowers in the Attic...probably some Stephen King) when I was middle school ages though.

Excellent! Yeah, the series seems to be popular at my middle school, which is definitely a good thing. :)

I can see I'm going to need to set up a proxy server again if I want to watch that full preview. Tsk. Or haunt ATZ until someone shares a different source.

What did you think of the recent revelations about Alexander Davidson? It wasn't quite what I was expecting, but it makes sense. I was thinking about what would happen if they took on a second season of the TV show, particularly one that was more than six episodes - say 12, or 13. I think they wouldn't have many issues up until the prison plotline... but I can see the Thoams plotline giving tv audiences some issues, and by the time the show gets to the Governor, I can see there being active protests. Could the audeince handle a large ensemble cast that keeps dyin, though?
