So exciting! This was great. I love that at the core of them was a rock solid friendship and love that withstood all of the other phases of their relationship. It's a great dynamic, and you've played it out well here. I really like that they always want what's best for one another, even if that best isn't themselves. Great job with this, and with fitting it so neatly into canon. Thanks so much.
Again, I'm so pleased you enjoyed this! It really is how their relationship plays to me onscreen--there is definitely a spark there that isn't in Espo-Ryan or Beckett-Castle, and I enjoyed the opportunity to explore that.
This was a brilliant read - Esposito and Beckett are probably my favourite UC ship on Castle, and I loved the way you wrote them; it felt absolutely spot on!
I highly doubted that Espo would be feel bad about breaking Beckett and Demming. He knew that Demming would not be, and should not be the "one and done" of Beckett. I believe he understood why Castle left. There are moments in the show where Espo had Castle's back when Ryan talked about Demming and Beckett, he understood how hard and hurt it was for Castle to see Beckett with Demming. So I don't think he felt bad for that, but he should feel angry about Castle's decision, and pity for Castle's choice
( ... )
I really liked this. On the show there's clearly a history between Beckett and Esposito, but the full shape of that history is anything but clear. This fills in the backstory nicely and is in keeping with all the dimensions that seem to be hinted at in the show - partners, friends, blood brothers and yes, lovers of a type. As a real bonus, you manage to keep all of them in character.
