So much love for this fic. I was just thinking the other day how badly I wanted to read a sort of Castle prequel fic. So nice timing!

So many great, great details in here. I love how you tracked their relationship over time, bringing us up to the start of season 5, and the whole thing just feels like it fits wonderfully within canon.
