Last night at Prayer at the Close of Day I introduced one of the hymns as my favorite stress hymn (Where Cross the Crowded Ways of Life). I, um, guessed from the reaction to that statement that not everyone has favorite stress hymns.

I distinctly remember asking what "iniquity" was. Also, Come Thou Fount is totally my favorite hymn. No adding snrky overtones!!!

I like Come Thou Fount too, when I accompanied hymns it was one of the few that the congregation didn't slow down to half speed. (And its fun to play too.)

Do the teenage boys (both literally and figuratively) present in church snicker when the congregation sings, "Here I raise my Ebenezer"?

One of my favorite Scriptural references, but still. I can just hear Beavis and Butthead..."heh heh...you said Ebenezer."
