Haha, I know, I managed to get nothing done while I had the sucker unfinished. Working was a bitch. The whole time I read it, I had this big grin on my face, I was just so happy to be reading new BDB.
So, did you like it? I know there wasn't much Blay/Qhuinn or Butch/V, but I somehow made it work for myself. The Blay/Qhuinn stuff was angsty enough to make me happy and Butch/V are like this old married couple now. They have a fucking reinforced couch named after them. Tell me that isn't made of awesome win.
I assume this is about Lover Avenged? Haven't read yet, so no spoilers for me. I'll have it done sometime...and do a huge post on it probably, like I did for the last book lol
BTW, nice icon - from Elizabeth Hoyt's To Seduce a Sinner right? :)
Yes, on the icon front. I love Hoyt's covers. But actually, this icon really reminds me of...one of Julia Quinn's Brigerton books. I can't even remember what one it was at this point, but the hero wanted to throw himself at the heroine, who was sitting across a table from him but he was afraid his jumping the table would spill the tea service. So he was, like, downing cups of tea, finally jumps onto her on the couch and has to pee. Do you remember what one that was? I feel like it was Benedict's book, but I could be wrong. Anyways, what I'm getting at is, the couch ravishment reminds me of that scene, and so now I associate the icon with Quinn, not Hoyt.
...I only go on like this because I know you are the only damn person I know who will understand what the fuck I am talking about.
I know. I LOVE LOVE LOVE When He Was Wicked. The first chapter of that book, even, is so moving, so heartbreaking--I just knew I would be in for it. It was so starkly different from the rest of the Bridgerton books--and I suppose it was because Francesca was so very different from the rest of them. That actually, I think, is one of my favorite romance novels. It is so well done, and the guilt and the angst hit all the right buttons when I am in the mood for it. On the other side, I really liked Daphne's book too, The Duke and I. She's such a relatable heroine. I just adore her. And Simon, with the stutter? I still remember that scene where he gets really angry and starts stuttering--ah, heartbreaking! But her books are so funny too, though I think To Marry a Marquis is the funniest of all of them. That book keeps me laughing out loud from start to finish
