Thanks to a post in new_who, I just saw this press release from the BBC regarding a deal to air the recent first series of the "new" Doctor Who on the Sci Fi Channel staring in March 2006. Yay!!! I honestly didn't think it would ever make it to U.S. television ( Read more... )

My friend gave me all first season of Doctor Who and i never have time to watch it.. ;( Is it really-really good? (I probably asked already)

I fell in love with it completely. I've been watching Doctor Who off and on since I was a child, so I was thrilled that they brought it back. However, I also have friends who have never ever seen the original Doctor Who series, yet they also really love this new series.

I definitely recommend it - it's funny, witty, and often very heartwarming. There are scary moments, but since this is generally a family program, it never gets too scary, and it's written for both kids and adults. If you do get around to watching it, you can check my tags, because I reviewed the last four episodes in-depth, as well as The Christmas Invasion.

I am thrilled that the U.S. viewing public will have the chance to watch this awesome series! But I'm also selfishly bummed that we won't get the DVD set until next summer. I mean, that will be a whole year to wait from the time I saw the series finale (June 2005) until the DVD set comes out in the U.S. But I can understand that they want to maximize their sales....

Now I'm pissed that we just got rid of cable :-( Damn!

This IS great news though (despite the dvd push) and hopefully it will mean a whole new generation of Whovians will be born!!!

I had read about the push back on og_news just before I died, but had no idea it was because of a SciFi deal. Well, that kinda sucks and rocks at the same time. Am seriously thinking of ordering that UK set before July.
