I am so with you on the Trickster deal. See my last entry - was so mad I threw a pair of socks at my screen!
Just got done watching tonight's episode, and God fans will be torn over this one, but I personally loved it, because no-one escaped being mocked, including Jared & Jensen (and I mean them, not just Sam & Dean), and themselves to. I think it was done with affection and at the end of the day, it made me laugh. Also, I think the point of it was to kind of say the fans of this show are sort of bonkers, but so are we (the writers, producers, actors etc.) and that it is okay.
I'll take that, because if SPN stays true to tradition, this is the light-hearted fluff before the EPIC FALL OF DOOM that will RIP OUR HEARTS OUT in next week's episode. I'm not a betting woman, but I fear next week's episode. Fear it!

It's just. Fiction is so rarely kind to fans, and often rather scathing. BUT you're right, no one was let off the hook - they even used Chuck to skewer themselves and show how some guest speakers, including the creators/writers, at conventions can be really, really lame - so it's not just the fans. And that the earnestness of it all and the passion of it all does have a place and a value

I comepletely agree with you with regards to Wincest - I can read it, and will, but it is only a few writers who can make me believe it and I tread very carefully when it comes to Wincest. However, I suppose I just ship Sam & Dean in general, like in brothers and one for all and TEAM WINCHESTER in a completely NON-SEXUAL way. I just ADORE them as characters and as an on-screen duo

because I was still laughing uproariously at the Knight Rider. Also, the herpes commercial was SPOT ON.
Ahahaha, yes, yes. I really enjoyed all of them, truly. I mean Dean pulled the holy oil out of Sam's ass! And Sam telling him that rooting around in the Impala's trunks was "uncomfortable." *dies* I was shrieking with laughter, and even rewatching this week was pretty damn funny. It's just that the Trickster was much more interesting when he wasn't an angel (and Gabriel, no less, please) - to me, it detracts tremendously from his previous episodes to have to consider them in light of his Gabriel-ness. Mystery Hole in particular, which is rather an important episode/lesson for Sam, makes a lot less sense if it's Gabriel rather than just some interested demi-god.
But the episode overall was a scream! It's one I'll be enjoying for a long time, I think. :D
