fans will be torn over this one, but I personally loved it, because no-one escaped being mocked, including Jared & Jensen (and I mean them, not just Sam & Dean)
You know, the more I think about it, the better I feel. It's just. Fiction is so rarely kind to fans, and often rather scathing. BUT you're right, no one was let off the hook - they even used Chuck to skewer themselves and show how some guest speakers, including the creators/writers, at conventions can be really, really lame - so it's not just the fans. And that the earnestness of it all and the passion of it all does have a place and a value.
By the end of the episode, I was feeling good, but the beginning just threw my hackles up. I really like how it ended. :) Not to mention the whole Sam/Dean canon thing, which I gotta say - this morning I was just walking around the office, and I remembered that, and I got a HUGE GRIN on my face because that? SO GREAT, and I'm not even a fan of wincest (I can & do read it, but I've found that there are only certain writers who can really make me believe it).
I'll take that, because if SPN stays true to tradition, this is the light-hearted fluff before the EPIC FALL OF DOOM that will RIP OUR HEARTS OUT in next week's episode.

I comepletely agree with you with regards to Wincest - I can read it, and will, but it is only a few writers who can make me believe it and I tread very carefully when it comes to Wincest. However, I suppose I just ship Sam & Dean in general, like in brothers and one for all and TEAM WINCHESTER in a completely NON-SEXUAL way. I just ADORE them as characters and as an on-screen duo.
Am glad you feel better about this episode. I was absolutely dreading it to be honest, and yes when it first began I was like OH DEAR GOD. Then once I realised they were mocking everyone, from themselves to the actors and of course the fans I just started laughing. Truly, no-one was left out. I also love that they slashed their fans! *giggling*. Demian and Barnes are mods over at the Twop SPN boards and I just about fell off my chair laughing. OH SPN.

Next week's episode is going to be rough, I just know it! I can feel it! And then there is a two month bloody hiatus! Am not amused. GAH!
