Thank you! I was really entranced by how beautifully the drama was filmed, so I really couldn't help making a picspam. :)

And Ayase is perhaps more beautiful in this drama than I've seen her in anything else. Which is saying something, really. Watching her in this has made me love her even more!

(also, now I want to see the drama she and Yamada acted in before, because clearly they have an amazing rapport)

Gah, I can never resist a lovely picspam from you, even if it's for a drama I've never watched, only heard about ;)

Now I feel like watching the drama~

I tried this drama a long time ago for Fukuda Mayuko, which turned out to be a soulcrushing experience. XD I think I'll give it a shot again if you recommend it so highly.

I started this drama a few times since January, but due to the subject matter, I didn't settle down to finish it until about a month ago. I can totally understand how it might really be too dark and depressing, because this is definitely not a happy story, and there is no happy ending.

But despite that, I'm still glad that I watched it because setting aside the [devastatingly dark] story itself, I did love the characters, and this is one of the rare dramas that is so tightly plotted and directed that it felt like the whole thing had been filmed and carefully pieced together before even a single episode had been aired.

It definitely may not be your cup of tea, but if you think you can stand to try, give it another shot. :)

You're welcome! I'm glad I didn't scare you off. ;) It's an incredibly sad story, unfortunately, but the actors and their characters were very charismatic and made me care about them despite everything.

Oh man I totally adore this drama and I'm so happy to see someone else enjoying it too :D I've been tying to get some of my friends to watch it but I guess the story is too dark for them.

Previously before this drama, I've only seen Ayase in roles where she plays a girl who is kinda ditzy, but after this drama, she has become one of my favorite actress ^^

*glee* I'm so glad that you're also a fan! I fell in love with Ayase after I first saw her in Tatta Hitotsu no Koi: since then, I've watched her 2007 & 2008 dramas and I love her more and more all the time. But this role is just amazing - of all her dramas that I've seen so far, I think this one demonstrates her range and proves her quality. For an actress her age to be able to do something so lighthearted like Hotaru no Hikari less than 2 years after her role as Yukiho is impressive. There isn't a trace of either character in the other, if that makes sense, I really admire that.

She is one of my faves, too. :)

She totally blew me away as Yukiho. I started noticing her like you did in tattakoi because she has such a cute personality and her acting wasnt bad either :D I heard Sekai no Chuushin de, Ai wo Sakebu is a really good drama too and it has the same feel with Byakuyakou but not as dark. Well seeing as they came from the same staff who did Byakuyakou XD I'm hoping to marathon it one day when I have the time haha~

Randomly, the young child actress was really good too :D She will probably be even more outstanding in a few more years XD

I want to watch Sekai no Chuushin de, Ai wo Sakebu, too! Although I suspect that I will end up watching Sore wa, Totsuzen, Arashi no you ni first, for various reasons.

I completely agree!
